This is a second-shift position from 3:15PM to 11:45PM Monday through Friday. This position also operates all equipment in the bindery (finishing area) of the Print Shop and handles most of the more-difficult print jobs. Moves stock and performs routine equipment maintenance.
Temporary position estimated to last 6 - 8 weeks.
Examples of Work
Operates inserters and inkjet machines in the Print Shop for stuffing and addressing mail. Sets up and operates cutters, collators, folders, paper drills, punches, binding machines, shrink-wrap machine, stitchers, padding equipment-labeling machine, mailing and inserting machines and other bindery equipment as needed. Performs routine maintenance and repairs on equipment. Sets machines up for more difficult jobs for other staff members to run. Moves stock and delivers finished materials. This includes unloading cartons of paper and other incoming supplies, moving materials throughout the production processes, and the delivery of finished materials to State Agencies. This involves manually operating pallet jacks to move loads up to 4,000 pounds, using a 2-wheel dolly to move cartons, and driving a 3-wheel tugger. Performs handwork in the bindery production area consisting of marrying the multi-sections of books together in correct order, placing covers on books, and stapling or spiral binding books together.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Eighth grade education or equivalent plus one year of bindery experience.
PREFERRED: Six-months experience in a print shop bindery is preferred. Experience processing mail or operating inserting equipment preferred. General computer experience using Windows preferred.
