The Nebraska Department of Labor is seeking to fill the position of Staff Assistant I within our Procurement Department. The successful candidate will be detail and customer service oriented, well organized and have the ability to multi-task.
Hours: 7:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday.

Examples of Work
The Staff Assistant I will be the sole Agency Transportation Services Bureau (TSB) Coordinator who manages agency rentals & leased vehicles, facilitates paperwork for mileage logs, damage repairs, miscellaneous maintenance and is a liaison with TSB. Approves staff use of TSB rental vehicles across the State and assists staff with registering for the Defensive Driving course. May need to pick up TSB vehicles at the Lincoln Pool on occasion and some travel may be required so a valid driver's license is necessary. Sole Agency Coordinator for Records Management which includes working as a liaison with State Records Center (SRC) and staff to facilitate boxes sent and stored, works with Retention Schedules and records destruction paperwork. Sole Agency Copier Coordinator who manages the agency copier troubleshooting, meter readings and facilitates paperwork for replacements. Liaison with DAS Copy Services and Copier Vendor. Generates and receipts Purchase Orders from State Contracts in Enterprise One (E1). Prepares other miscellaneous purchase orders. Access database entry and report printing. Processes agency Office Depot orders online, handles returns and discrepancies. Provides occasional backup for multi-line switchboard. Processes section incoming and outgoing mail, including logging checks. Assists Buyer with moving surplus items and annual statewide inventory scans. Daily pick up of agency mail at State Office Building, sorting and disseminating it as well as checking in orders that arrive in the mail room and prepares items for mailing out to area Labor offices.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Coursework/training in administrative/office support functions, procedures, and methods including the operation of personal computers and office equipment; research; or areas related to the programs and functions of the employing agency OR Experience in performing administrative/office/secretarial support work including use of personal computers and office equipment.
PREFERRED: Experience working in State Government Enterprise One (E1) Procurement Module; working with multi-line telephone and Access database. Regular and reliable attendance is expected. Ability to lift 25 lbs.
OTHER: Valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: Working knowledge of Enterprise One (E1) Procurement Module; Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook email; knowledge of or willingness to learn about phones and copiers in order to assist staff with troubleshooting. Skill in: basic math, strong organizational skills; multi-tasking; high-level customer service with strong communication skills are essential to working effectively with vendors, other agencies, all levels of agency staff and the public; use of calculator. Ability to: operate a multi-line telephone and greet customers; be detail-oriented; dependable, responsible and self-motivated.
