CORE COMPETENCIES & PRIMARY DUTIES
Job Technical Skills – The successful candidate for this position will have knowledge of electricity fundamentals, theory, and basic circuitry. Practical working knowledge of three-phase alternating current electricity as applied to electric power systems, including, but not limited to the application of voltage, current, impedance, inductance, capacitance, power factor, real and apparent power, transformer operating characteristics, transformer connections. Knowledge of pole top resuscitation, artificial respiration, CPR, First Aid and AEDs. Responsibilities include constructing, operating, and maintaining electrical line and network facilities; fiber optic installation, splicing, and maintenance; and operating substations.
Performs duties on both energized and de-energized streetlight, transmission and distribution lines and substations while insuring the safety of themselves, fellow workers, and the general public.
Operates and maintains tools, equipment, and safety devices necessary for the construction and maintenance of streetlight, transmission, and distribution lines and operation of substations.
Under direct supervisions, performs tasks associated with assigned projects; provides assistance with operations, maintenance, and/or construction when work requirements dictate.
Responsible for fiber optic installation, splicing, and maintenance.
Performs artificial respiration, pole top resuscitation, bucket rescue, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other emergency first aid when necessary.
Working environment includes, confined and enclosed spaces (network vaults).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associates degree in related field, and
Construction work experience involving network and cabling technician work with four years of progressively
responsible experience in area of assignment, or
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Respiratory Protection Certification – Pulmonary and Fit Testing
Valid commercial driver’s license
Mobile Crane Operator Certification specializing in Service Truck Cranes or the ability to obtain within 18 months
